MEN .

100. Lo statunitense Ryan Bailey, medaglia d’argento con la staffetta 4×100 ai Giochi Olimpici di Londra, torna a Padova dopo il podio colto nel 2009. Il suo personale di 9”88 lo pone di diritto tra i favoriti, ma dovrà guardarsi da  altri due atleti capaci di scendere sotto il muro dei 10”: lo sprinter dello Zimbawe Gabriel Mvumvure (9”98, firmato 2013) e l’americano Isiah Young (9”99, sempre nel 2013). L’Italia si affida all’emergente Delmas Obou, campione nazionale in carica.

Proverà a dire la sua il vicentino Matteo Galvan.

E’ la gara di Aries Merritt, medaglia d’oro dei Giochi Olimpici di Londra e dei Mondiali indoor di Istanbul 2012, detentore del record del mondo della specialità, con il tempo di 12”80 ottenuto a Bruxelles il 7 settembre 2012. Azzurri col poliziotto Hassane Fofana, campione italiano in carica, e col primatista italiano juniores Lorenzo Perini.

Ma ci sarà anche un altro finalista iridato: il russo Aleksey Fyodorov, quinto in Russia e già medaglia di bronzo agli Europei indoor 2013.

DONNE.
100. Oro con la 4×100 a Daegu, finalista a Mosca, Alexandra Anderson vanta un personale di 10”91 messo a segno a giugno 2013, ma a suo favore parlano anche undici gare in carriera corse sotto al muro degli 11”. Con lei sul podio di Daegu c’era anche Shalonda Solomon (10”90). A sfidarle c’è la giamaicana Aleen Bailey, campionessa olimpica ad Atene con la 4×100, mentre i colori azzurri saranno rappresentati da Irene Siragusa.


400. E’ una delle gare più interessanti. L’azzurra Libania Grenot si presenta sui blocchi nei 400 metri con la voglia di riscattarsi, dopo essere stata esclusa dalla finale di Mosca per soli 13 centesimi. Chi in finale ci è andata, eccome, è la ventiseienne russa Antonina Krivoshapka che, ai campionati iridati, è salita sul podio sia nella prova individuale, conquistando la medaglia di bronzo in 49”78, che con la 4×400, prima classificata. E con lei, in staffetta, c’era pure Kseniya Ryzhova, l’atleta del bacio sul podio, clamoroso atto di protesta (poi smentito) contro la legge anti-gay russa.


1500. Gara con diverse atlete che viaggiano sugli stessi tempi. Per l’Italia c’è l’azzurra Margherita Magnani, che dovrà guardarsi dalla slovena Sonja Roman, dalla russa Yelena Korobkina e dalla keniana Violah Lagat.
