NEXT CONFIRMATIONS at BRESCIA GRAND PRIX 2024 

They wanted to confirm in advance the presence at the BRESCIA GRAND PRIX 2024 to settle a debt  made with the city since February 2022, when for them, athletics had become only a marginal part  of the drama that suddenly swept over them. The outbreak of war in Ukraine, Russian aggression,  the uncertainty of the future, life suddenly becoming far more important than a lap to run beyond  one’s limits or a bar to cross. 

Viktoriia Tkachuk (400m hurdles), silver medalist at the 2022 Munich European Championships and  finalist (sixth) at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics; Anna Ryzhykova (400m hurdles), bronze medalist at the  Munich European Championships and fifth at Tokyo 2020; and Iryna Gerashchenko (high jump),  bronze medalist at the recent European Championships in Rome 2024, will be among the  protagonists of the Meeting organized by the Raptors with the sports consulting of Rosa Associati  and the technical support of Nike, with the support assured by the City of Brescia and the  collaboration of Fidal (Italian Federation). 

The confirmation of the Ukrainian female athletes is the fruit of a close bond with Brescia, built on  the willingness of Rosa Associati to offer them hope in the most difficult moment of their sporting  endeavors and on the commitment of the City of Brescia, which did their utmost to resolve the legal  problems that prevented their continued presence in Italy. 

Beside the three athletes who will ennoble the BRESCIA GRAND PRIX 2024 with their presence, the  Ukranian group based in Brescia also includes, triple medalist Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk, silver  medalist at the World Championships in Budapest 2023 and European champion in Munich 2022,

Anastasiia Bryzgina, a four-hundred-meter runner who is a child of art (her mother, Olga Vladykina,  was world champion in Rome ’87 and Olympic champion in Seoul ’88) and 800-meter specialist Olga  Liakhova. 

A story of war and pain that was transformed into hope thanks to Brescia’s efforts. Today because  of that commitment, Ukrainian female athletes can continue to compete and win. As Viktoriia  Tkachuk, Anna Ryzhykova and Iryna Gerashchenko will try to do on Sunday, September 8 at the  BRESCIA GRAND PRIX 2024.
